Napa is one of the most popular places to visit in the state of California thanks to its rich landscape, beautiful countryside and of course, the incredible wine. Napa is one of America’s leading wine regions and is famed for producing some of the best wine not just in the country, but some say the world. However, there is more to Napa than just the wine and we can’t wait to tell you why!
Whilst Napa is famed for its expansive wineries, it is also renowned for producing delicacies like olive oil. The attractive climate of Napa makes it an ideal place for producing some of the most delicious olive oil in the state. Many producers in the region offer free tastings, so check the local listings to see what is available.
As well as olive oil, Napa is also home to breweries, distilleries and cheesemakers. You can even follow your very own cheese trail throughout Sonoma! If you are a true foodie, one fun thing to do in Napa is to take a cookery class. From pastry to culinary arts, there are lots of classes to choose from where you can improve your skills, make friends and have fun too!
There are also lots of wonderful restaurants to visit whilst in Napa where you can enjoy local produce, expertly cooked. Why not consider a night out at one of Napa’s first-class restaurants where you can enjoy a delicious meal? You could even consider a 16-course tasting menu at the acclaimed restaurant The French Laundry, which is headed up by renowned chef Thomas Keller.
If you are looking to combine a great meal with a fun night out, a visit to the Twin Pine Casino and restaurant is a must. Here you can enjoy fine dining and wine coupled with an exciting night out at their casino where you can try the likes of Blackjack. Sometimes it goes by other names such as Pontoon and 21, but most people refer to this game as Blackjack, but what’s in a name anyway?!
One lovely thing to do in Napa is to take a hot air balloon ride. You can float like a bird and admire the beautiful scenery including the rolling hills. The best time to take a hot air balloon ride is just after dawn. Most companies can take up to eight to ten people, but if you are looking for a more romantic and exclusive excursion, you can book on a per couple basis too. We are sure it will take your breath away and will certainly give you an appetite for breakfast!
Despite these exciting things to do, the Napa Valley is synonymous with wine. Whether you want to stay at a ranch, have lunch at a winery or even take a guided tour around the region with your very own wine pass, there is something for everyone, every taste and for every budget. We can’t think of a better place to visit for a weekend or something a little bit longer.
