build the trinity tunnel
Reason: Need fast access between Sonoma Valley and the Napa Valley – Trinity Road and the Oakville grade are among the most dangerous and narrow of roads crossing the Mayacamas Mountain Range between Sonoma and Napa Counties. There is no easy or quick route between Napa and Sonoma Counties. Expedite and increase the flow of tourism between the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Expedite those who commute between these two valleys.
(N to S) Sonoma to Napa County crossings
1. Mark West Springs Road – Porter Creek Road – Petrified Forest
2. Rincon Valley in Santa Rosa – Calistoga Road to St Helena Road – narrow, least used of the four crossings
3. Trinity Road – Dry Creek Road – Oakville Grade (proposed tunnel)
4. Carneros Highway (121)

Studies needed: how much increased traffic flow would both Napa and Sonoma Valley’s see as a result – would stop light need to be placed on the intersections of Highway 12 in Sonoma County and Highway 29 at Oakville Grade in Napa? Or would merge lanes be better suited to these two intersections?

Love your idea. It sure would make life nice. Living in Glen Ellen with easy access to Napa Valley would be great. But given our county doesn’t have enough money to pave the roads we have and most people in Sonoma don’t want any more traffic or development its highly unlikely. Keep on dreaming though!
They got plenty of tunnels that they bore all over the united states. They should not even charge to do it since they use our tax money to drill there hidouts everywhere that they say are for a nuclear fallout buy really for other things that are on there agenda. 🤔
